Makeup was top of my shopping list for New York. I love trying new products and Sephora is the best place to find them. I also picked up a few things in Mac as it’s much cheaper in the US. I’m delighted to say that I love everything I purchased and have now band myself from buying any more makeup for the next year!! (Lets see how that one goes).
Too Faced has never been a brand I’ve paid much attention to in the past, but that will no longer be the case. I decided to try two products I had heard a lot of beauty bloggers rave about, the Better Than Sex Mascara and the chocolate bar eye shadow palette. Too Faced can be found in Debenhams in Ireland.
Better Than Sex Mascara €23.00
There’s a lot of competition but I think this might be the best mascara I have ever tired! I had been using the Charlotte Tilbury mascara for over a year and thought I would never find another to trump it, but by some miracle this Too Faced gem did just that. I’ve had many lovely people complement my eye lashes since using this.
Chocolate Bar eye shadow palette €47.00
The eye shadow palette has a mixture of matt and sparkle colors, all of which are highly pigmented with little to no fall out. I have many palettes and eye shadows but these are all I use now. Oh, and did I mention they smell like chocolate!! I find myself craving chocolate for breakfast after I use this in the morning, not good!
I knew nothing about this brand a few weeks ago and now I cant get enough of it. Sadly its not available in Ireland BUT I’ve heard rumors it may be coming to Boots so keep your fingers and toes crossed because this stuff will change your life! Or at least your makeup routine.
Shade Light contour pallet $46.00
I’d never used a powder contour pallet before and don’t particularly like cream contouring. The darkest shade is now my bronzer and the other two dark shades are used to contour the rest of my face like my temples, nose and jaw line. I use the lightest shade under my eyes over concealer. The colours are so so pigmented meaning you need the lightest swish of your brush to get enough of the powder.
Lock-It Foundation $35.00
I have many cult foundations that I’m more than happy with so I took a chance when I bought this one. After trying it just once I went straight back to Sephora and purchased a second bottle. This stuff is a air brush filter in a bottle. Its amazing!! Hands down the best foundation I’ve ever had. I use it day and night and it lasts from 6 am till 12 am the next day if I leave it on long enough! I hope Kat Von D does come to Ireland because I’ll be spending a lot on shipping otherwise.
PLUMPRAGEOUS™ Matte Lip Treatment $24.00
I have small lips and do my best to make them look fuller. I’ve tired a few lip plumper’s over the years but none of them did much. I’m not saying this will give you Kylie lips but it does something, which compared to all other “plumpers” is pretty good… My lips do look fuller and after applying lipstick or whatever I’m using on my lips they do look ever so slightly better than when I don’t use this plumper. Not exactly an alternative to lip fillers but better than nothing.
Cover FX Cream Concealer £23.00
While picking up my favorite concealer, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer a sales assistant approached me and suggested I try one by Cover FX instead. I’ve always wanted to try the Cover FX foundation drops so she had my interest right away. I told her I have dry skin around my eyes and she explained how this concealer is light in texture but high coverage and is very creamy so wont be drying. Those Sephora sales assistants know how to sell!
She wasn’t lying and I can now say I have a new favorite concealer. I have pale skin and like to use my concealer to contour so I got the extra white shade. It wears incredibly well with no creasing.
I love a good highlighter for my cheekbones and had heard great things about this one. The color is so pretty with just the right amount of bronze and highlight. Again, its very pigmented and a little goes a long way.
Naturally when in America I needed to pick up some ABH beauty. We’ve all heard the hype about this brand and I was not disappointed. I got the Brow Definer (£16.00) and DipBrow Pomade (£15.00).
I really wanted to find some good matt lip colors while on my trip. Most matt colors dry out the lips and even flake off but not these bad boys! They go on creamy and dry matt but wont dry your lips out in the process. If I had to choose one product I bought as my favorite I would have to pick these lips colors. They make my lips look amazing! If i do say so myself…
I decided to stock up on one of my all time favorite foundations, Mac Studio Fix Fluid as they are a good bit cheaper here than in European Mac shops. I also picked up a pigment in vanilla and finally, a new foundation brush, the Oval 6 Brush. This foundation brush is a game changer. It buffs your foundation into the skin leaving a flawless airbrush finish. I really notice a big difference with the finish of my foundation when I use this brush. Now off you go to mac!
