Five Days in New York Travel Guide

Sophie in NYC

This was not my first time in New York, in fact I’ve spent many months there on an six month internship visa, again on a three month J1 visa and also a few shorter trips. I fall in love with the city more and more with each visit and always look forward to returning. This time I went with my friend Amy for a girly weekend, something we had talked about doing throughout college once we were in full time employment and could afford to treat ourselves. It was Amy’s first time in the big apple so I was excited to have the excuse to do all the tourist things again. To say we packed a lot into our five days there is an understatement. Our feet had practically fallen off by day three but somehow we managed to solider on and make the most of our trip.

The logistics

We flew there with Aer Lingus and managed to get a great deal on flights at €459.74 return each. We stayed in DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Hell’s Kitchen. Again, we got a great deal by booking through booking.com at just $573 for five nights.  We also decided to buy a New York explorer pass for 3 attractions as it worked out cheaper than paying for three attractions individually.
