Some people hate coffee and I was one of them. In the last year or two, I have become obsessed with getting my daily caffeine fix! But not just with a traditional cuppa, I drink my coffee in all sorts of ways, deepening on the occasion or how exhausted I am. I’ve learned that just a few simple ingredients can shake things up and keep your coffee interesting!
Morning Coffee Smoothie
This drink is my favorite meal of the day. I honestly feel like I’m having dessert for breakfast and therefore winning in life. Aside from the amazing taste, it will keep you full until lunchtime. Before, I would count down the minutes after breakfast until whipping out a snack from my desk drawer. Now, I don’t even think about having a morning snack. It’s a perfectly balanced meal with fibre, protein and fat, and the cold brew concentrate is the cherry on top of your Sunday giving you a kick of energy to start your day.
Ingredients:
- Frozen Banana
- Spinach
- Chocolate Protein
- Flax Seed
- Chia Seeds
- Peanut Butter
- Almond Milk
- Cold Brew Concentrate (My favorite cold brew is from Trader Joes).
Method:
Freeze the banana and spinach in advance. Put all the ingredients into a blender and pour in the almond milk and cold brew, and blend.
Iced Coffee with Coconut Water and Coconut Milk/Almond Milk
The easiest coffee to make, that isn’t just coffee. The coconut water gives it a bit of sweetness without being overboard. I like to use a blender to smooth out the lumps.
Ingredients:
- Coconut Water
- Coconut or Almond Milk
- Cold brew concentrate (or make your own coffee)
- Ice
Method:
Mix the ingredients, using ratios that suit your taste. Pour over ice.
Coffee & Chocolate Chia Seed Pudding
Sneak some coffee into this delicious and filling breakfast. The chia seeds will curb hunger for hours.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cup brewed coffee
- 2 tbs cacao nibs, or cacao powder
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1 1/4 cup almond milk
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup chia seeds
- 2 scoops chocolate protein powder
Optional: Banana, berries, seeds
Method:
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until combined. Place the mixture in the refrigerator and leave overnight (or for at least 3 hours). Enjoy!
Bullet Proof Coffee
The most energizing coffee around. This stuff takes caffeine to another level improving performance and brain function while suppressing hunger and proving steady lasting energy. But seriously, butter in coffee? All I can tell you is to try it…
You can buy branded bulletproof coffee blends or make your own with the following ingredients.
Ingredients:
- Coffee
- Unsalted Grass-fed butter
- 1 tsp-2 tbsp of Brain Octane or XCT Oil
Method:
Brew 1 cup of coffee, and add the brain octane oil (start with half a tsp and build your tolerance, this stuff is strong!) then add 1-2 tablespoons of grass-fed, unsalted butter or grass-fed ghee. Blend in a blender for best results.
What is your favorite way to drink coffee? Have you tried any border line crazy ways? Let me know in the comments!
