Who really loves water? Like gets excited about it and finds themselves saying “I’m craving water right now” Not many… and not me, unless I’m just really thirsty. Water infused with extra properties is much more interesting! Today I’m sharing my favorite drinks for different times in the day. I’m looking at detox teas (not the Instagram kind), water infusions and smoothies.

Morning drink

Real simple:

Hot water, green tea, lemon, mint leaf

*apple cider vinegar

Many swear by this hot morning drink! I’ve been drinking warm lemon water first thing in the morning for years. Over time I spiced it up a little by adding a green tea bag (helps me hold off on the coffee) and a mint leaf to settle my stomach. *Add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to double the detox.

Get fancy:

Coconut milk, 2-3 teaspoons of turmeric, 1 teaspoon raw honey, cinnamon, 1/4 fresh ginger, peeled, Pinch of cayenne pepper

The benefits of turmeric are endless! It can super charge your health by aiding relaxation, preventing colds, aiding digestion, curing diarrhoea, irritable bowel syndrome, menstrual cramps, headaches, and arthritis. It is also said to help fight certain cancers and relieve depression. See, endless!

What makes it so amazing? The main benefits of turmeric come from its key compound, curcumin. Curcumin is a strong antioxidant with anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Adding a little black pepper with turmeric will further enhance the benefits as the pepper helps with the absorption of curcumin.

Throughout the day

Iced water with lemon & cucumber & mint

A refreshing detox drink that is much more interesting than plain water. I drink far more water when I have extra ingredients added. Sweeten it up by adding more berries!

Midday

Real simple:

Glass of water with Chlorophyll drops, and lemon slices.

Green water is in. I call it swamp water when anyone asks (usually in disgust). It might not be pretty but here’s why you shouldn’t care.

Chlorophyll is naturally produced by plants and algae, and it causes photosynthesis, (the process by which sunlight is converted into chemical energy.) So what? Well, chlorophyll increases the quantity and quality of red blood cells in your body. More healthy red blood cells mean better oxygen absorption AKA all around energy. It’s a blood cleanse at a cellular level! Add lemon to improve the taste.

The Evening

Real simple:

Peppermint tea

Peppermint tea is great for digestion. Ever feel like you’ve eaten too much?( every meal if you’re anything like me!) Peppermint tea will have you feeling great again. I love to have a cup of warm peppermint tea before bedtime to relax myself, and my stomach.

Get fancy:

If you are craving something sweet or dinner didn’t satisfy you try this smoothie.
Banana (ideally frozen), peanut butter, cocoa powder or chocolate protein, drizzle with raw honey. Add other things like flax and chia seeds depending on how hungry you are.

Remember the turmeric latte I mentioned for morning time? Well, it’s also perfect to drink right before bed. Turmeric is a natural sleep aid.

This has been a list of drinks I love throughout the day. Obviously, no one has time to drink all of them, every day. But I aim for at least two! You might have noticed I left out caffeine. My favorite coffee drinks and coffee alternatives deserve a list of its own so watch out for that coming soon!

What’s your favorite health drinks throughout the day? Let me know in the comments.

I drink SO much peppermint tea throughout the day. I have a lot of nausea, and it helps tremendously. Infused water is my favorite 🙂 Definitely going to give chlorophyll water a try after reading this post!
