Hi again! This week I have another travel related post for you. While home in Ireland, my friends in New York decided to book a last minute trip to Miami for Fourth of July weekend. With four days vacation from work, it would have been too much of a shame not to go away!
I returned from Dublin on Wednesday and flew to Miami Saturday, so needless to say it was a whirlwind, but the best kind of a whirlwind!
We flew from NYC into Miami Fort Lauderdale airport which was about 30 minutes from South Beach and cost approximately $30 in an Uber to our hotel in Miami South Beach.

Stay
Clinton South Beach
We booked our trip just one week in advance so it was a miracle we were able to get any hotel on such short notice, over the busiest weekend in America! We were delighted to find the Clinton still had open vacancies. AND it included breakfast in the price! Such a money saver!
The Clinton Hotel is located in the heart of South Beach, just a few streets back from the beach. We were able to walk to plenty of cafes and restaurants from here. We did take lots of Uber’s (which are very inexpensive in Miami) only because of the intense heat and humidity in July.

Escape the Heat
Miami in July is hot & humid & humid & hot. Luckily there are an unlimited amount of pools to visit. Like I said above, the trip was last minute so we hadn’t done our research in advance. Because it was fourth of July weekend, naturally there were parties at all the pools and entrance fees were high.
Savoy Hotel Pool
We found the Savoy Hotel pool which was really nice and chilled and also on the beach. We spent Sunday there sipping on frozen cocktails in the sun and walking along the beach.

Raleigh Hotel Pool
We ate dinner at the Raleigh hotel on our first night and saw how nice their pool was we decided to spend Monday afternoon here. Again, there is a great poolside bar with yummy cocktails and the pool is also right on the beach.

South Beach
Mile long white sand with Instagram lifeguard watch tours. The water is like a warm bath, but don’t swim out too far… Sharks are often spotted offshore *gulp*.

Lunch Spots
660 at the Angler’s: Such a cute spot for food any time of the day
Coyo Taco: Amazzzing Mexican food with a secret bar hidden in the back.

Dinner Spots
Raleigh Hotel pool
The Standard Hotel– Such a fab dinner location! The whole resort at this hotel is amazing.
The Broken Shaker– Great for food and late night drinks. It’s also a cool hostel!
Area 31 – Downton Miami rooftop
Big Pink – Retro Diner

Not To Be Missed
Little Havana
Spend an hour in Little Havana for a taste of Cuba. Try Cuban coffee, local food and sip on fresh coconuts! The street has lots of great Cuban-inspired street art for the gram too!
Wynwood Walls
Living in Brooklyn, impressive street art is a common sight. But the Wynwood Walls are incredible. I definitely recommend taking a walk around this area and stopping by Coyo Taco for lunch.
Others:
With only three days to pack everything in, there were a few things I’ll need to return for.
Venetian Pool at Coral Gables
Vizcaya Mansion
Boat Mansion Tour
Little Haiti
Miami was just what I needed for a relaxing girls weekend with just the right amount of fun, sightseeing, and chill. It was my first time but certainly not my last!
